I’m Megha Roy, an interdisciplinary researcher exploring how chemistry can shape biomaterials and new approaches to drug discovery.
Interdisciplinary researcher in chemistry, biomaterials and drug discovery, with research experience in dynamic covalent pectin hydrogels, 3D bioprinting, materials characterisation and PROTAC-based targeted protein degradation.
Currently building on a foundation in chemistry through research in hydrogels, materials characterisation and molecular drug discovery.
Master’s thesis · Biomaterials · Wound healing
Engineered oxidized pectin hydrogels via dynamic covalent crosslinking for advanced wound healing applications.
Functional networks were crosslinked with carbohydrazide and tannic acid, then purified by dialysis and lyophilised. Characterisation included ATR-FTIR, SEM, rheology (including shear-thinning and thixotropic recovery) and UTM. Evaluation covered swelling, degradation, antimicrobial assays against S. aureus and E. coli, and extrusion-based 3D bioprinting.
Specific findings, figures and thesis title can be added once confirmed.

Materials Engineering, IISc
Conducted research under Prof. Kaushik Chatterjee in Materials Engineering on oxidised pectin hydrogels crosslinked with carbohydrazide and tannic acid. Characterised the networks using ATR-FTIR, SEM, rheology (including shear-thinning and thixotropic recovery) and UTM; evaluated swelling, degradation, antimicrobial activity against S. aureus and E. coli, and extrusion-based 3D bioprinting using CELLINK BioX.
UK–India Summit on 3D Printing and Tissue Engineering, IISc
Coordinated technical sessions, invited-speaker hospitality and schedule logistics for academic delegates and researchers.
Indian Institute of Chemical Biology
Under Dr. Arindam Talukdar, worked on a PROTAC-based ASK1 drug-discovery strategy for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Synthesised and optimised Selonsertib-derived intermediates, explored CRBN/VHL E3 ligase recruitment, and used TLC, NMR, IR spectroscopy and column chromatography. Also gained exposure to in vivo pharmacology in mice and UPS-mediated protein degradation.
Hansraj College
Synthesised and characterised organic compounds using greener approaches. Gained hands-on experience with TLC, column chromatography, ¹H/¹³C NMR, IR spectroscopy, rotavapor and microwave-assisted synthesis, and explored chemical biology, gene sequencing and genetic databases.
Department of Philosophy, University of Delhi
Maintained financial ledgers, audit vouchers and budget reconciliation records for departmental operations; also supported community education and mentoring for underprivileged students.
A working toolkit shaped by hands-on research across chemistry and biomaterials.
